We have a new kitten that came to us as a stray found in the woods in Edgartown. She’s about six weeks old with interesting markings. Those markings are primarily black with some buff markings and a tabby head with a very pretty face. She’s been named Sgt. Pepper Anderson and all this kitten does is purr, no matter what. She will need to stay at the shelter for a few more weeks, but come in and meet this little doll, maybe you’ll just want to take her home with you.
Holly is a shy girl who needs a home. She is a good size cat, four years old, with black and gray tabby markings. She is very sweet and gentle, but is confused about what’s happened to her. We’re confident that she will blossom in a forever home. Could that home be yours? Come by and meet her, even if it’s just to provide some well-needed socialization.
Chaps is our resident lobby cat. He’s about 12 years old, white with striking black markings. Chaps is a mellow fellow who is comfortable around dogs and other cats. He just needs a cozy place to nap in a place where he can also get some attention. The staff and volunteers have found that the longer he’s here, the more affectionate he becomes. Chaps now lives at the shelter, but if someone happens to fall for him we might be persuaded to let him leave.
Many thanks to everyone who attended the Celebration of the Animals last Saturday. And don’t forget our annual Garden Party on June 26 in Edgartown. The shelter is still accepting jewelry donations for the sale that will take place at the party. Costume jewelry, gold, silver, precious and non-precious gems or even broken or damaged pieces will be accepted. Please drop them off at the shelter during regular business hours.
Shelter hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
