The Vineyard girls tennis team heads to the state championships for a third straight year after eliminating Lynnfield High School in a 5-0 match Monday in the semifinals.
The girls will play Monument Mountain on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at St. John’s in Shrewsbury.
“We secured our doubles court quite quickly,” Coach Nina Bramhall said after Monday’s match. “One of our doubles teams is the reigning Massachusetts high school champion,” she said of first doubles Lizzie Williamson and Victoria Scott. “I don’t need to say any more than that.”
She said all the singles players had tough first sets but were also determined to get the win. “It was a hard-fought match,” the coach said.
On Saturday the girls beat Ursuline Academy — also 5-0 — making them South Section Division 3 championship winners.
