Two young female tabby cats are looking for forever homes. Holly is four years old and on the shy side. She is still coming out of her shell, but has started warming up to people. She is very sweet and will certainly blossom once she settles into a new home. Is there an angel out there for this girl?

Our other tabby girl is approximately a year old and a recent mother. She came to us as a feral cat but she is anything but, wanting to be petted and to snuggle. Felicity is a really affectionate sweetheart. She will need to be spayed in a few weeks before leaving us, but stop by and see if she’s the one for you.

Our resident lobby cat is 12-year-old Chaps. He’s mostly white with some black markings on his body and very striking black markings on his face. He’s a wonderful, mellow boy who is comfortable with dogs, cats, and people. All he needs is a little affection and a comfy bed. Although he has a home here if someone should fall in love with him we would be willing to let him go.

The annual garden party, held this past Monday, was quite successful. And it was our largest attendance ever. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of the awesome volunteers. We couldn’t do this without you.

Please join us on Monday, July 3 at 6:30 p.m. at Featherstone Center for the Arts for a musical monday showcase, Night of a Thousand Paws. Gordon Healy, our awesome assistant manager, will be hosting as well as performing, and all proceeds will be going to both the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard and Featherstone. There is a suggested donation of $10.

Lastly, the shelter is inviting all dog owners to come march with us in the Edgartown Fourth of July parade. Marchers should meet at the school parking lot at 4:30 p.m. Please contact the shelter for more details.

Shelter hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.

Contributions are always gratefully accepted; the shelter is funded solely by donations. Please make checks out to Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard; the mailing address is P.O. Box 1829, Edgartown, MA 02539 or visit animalshelterofmv.org.
