Sunshine and warmth. The weather has certainly cooperated over the past week. Great beach days and the ability to time the grocery shopping just right in order to find a parking space and less traffic.

Looking for a family adventure? The Martha’s Vineyard Museum has floating exhibit: the catboat Vanity, built in Edgartown in 1923. Vanity is a 21-foot-long wooden catboat owned by fisherman Oscar Pease well into the 1980s. Now fully restored, the handmade vessel remains an icon of Edgartown’s maritime heritage, one of only five remaining catboats built by the legendary Manuel Swartz Roberts. Through Sept. 1, skipper Chris Murphy sails Vanity during the week between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. To arrange for a sail for up to six people this summer, contact Allison Walker at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum at 508-627-4441 ext. 116 or awalker@mvmuseum.org.

The Batzer family gathering was another successful evening of friends and food. An annual event to catch up with everyone and learn of their winter activities. ‘Til next year.
