Why not use art to support a fund for the arts? Enter The Midsummer Fine Arts Fair to help raise money for a new fund devoted to the arts at the Permanent Endowment for Martha’s Vineyard.
The exhibit takes place this weekend at the Tashmoo Water Works and includes a wide array of photography, painting and sculpture from Island artists and well known off-Island talent. Where else can you find local artists like Rez Williams, Marston Clough, Gabrielle Whitcombe, and Thomas Hart Benton alongside Annie Leibovitz, Robert Mapplethorpe and Edward Weston? Only on the Vineyard of course.
The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with a VIP hanging party on Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. which includes local brews and eats, plus music by Alyssa Cimeno. There will also be a curator’s talk on Saturday and Sunday at 4 p.m.
A portion of all sales goes to a new Island Fund for the Arts at the Permanent Endowment for Martha’s Vineyard.
The Tashmoo Waterworks Building is located at 400 West Spring street in Vineyard Haven.
