Great sunny beach days over this past week with the temperature in the 70s and 80s and calm seas. There are many award-winning hydrangeas across the Vineyard that are fun to dry for decorations to last throughout the year.

Celebrate the fourth annual Aquinnah Public Safety Day with the Aquinnah police and fire departments and Tri-Town Ambulance. The Massachusetts State Police Airwing Unit is scheduled to land as well. There will be food, giveaways, and touch a truck for children. See you Saturday, July 22 from noon to 5 p.m. at Aquinnah Circle. Parking available.

The Town of Aquinnah is once again offering sailing lessons with Charles Shipway as well as swimming lessons at the home of Mrs. Hannah Malkin with Michael Wooley as instructor. Please see town clerk Carolyn Feltz to sign up.

Aquinnah Public Library will have story time at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 22 and from 11 to 3 p.m. is kids’ crafts: rocket bookmarks. On Tuesday July 25 at 4 p.m. henna artist Bridgette of Maple Mehndi will return to make henna designs on your hand. Free and open to the public, and at 5 p.m. is Music on the Deck.

At the Aquinnah Cultural Center there will be house tours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, July the 11th annual Native American Artisans Festival is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival is held in the Aquinnah Circle and features native artisans from southern New England and New York tribes. Wampum jewelry, beadwork, native T-shirts, leatherwork, feather work, finger weaving, paintings and much more. Make a mini sailor’s valentine or a wampum pendant. Sargent Gallery is hosting a benefit for the Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival and their environmental film series with an art show and reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 23.

All the best to Dan Sauer and Wenonah Madison upon opening their latest food establishment, Sea Smoke, on Wednesday. It is located at the corner of Oakland and Dukes County avenues in Oak Bluffs, across from Tony’s Market. They also operate 7a in West Tisbury. Looking forward to their new adventure.
