Chappy Pong Jiri Luncar was crowned the 2017 Chappy Pong table tennis tournament champion, coming back from a two game deficit to defeat Rod Backus 3-2 in the championship final Sunday, August 6.

Mr. Luncar, the returning title holder, took the final games 11-6, 11-7, and 11-8 to win the match. Both Vineyard Haven players compete for the Martha’s Vineyard Table Tennis Club.

Table tennis club members Alina Wen of Edgartown and Brian Walt of Vineyard Haven were runners-up.

August Michels, a summer Chappaquiddick visitor, defeated Mark Clements of West Tisbury 3-1 to take the junior division title.

The 10th annual tournament was sponsored by the Chappaquiddick Community Center and MVTTC.
