A Blackstone man charged with rape and indecent assault and battery was placed on three years of probation Monday, the day a jury trial was slated to begin in Dukes County superior court.

William M. Clasby, 52, will not be prosecuted on six counts of rape and four counts of indecent assault and battery on a person with intellectual disability, according to an agreement reached in court Monday morning.

He was placed on three years of probation on a charge of assault and battery, amended from indecent assault and battery, and ordered to stay away from the alleged victim.

Mr. Clasby was arrested in June 2016 and charged with allegedly assaulting an unidentified victim. At the time he delivered magazines to Island retailers.
