MVY radio broadcaster Laurel Redington was recently honored with an award from the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association for her segment, A Call To Preserve A Local Treasure.
The piece originally aired on the station’s Sunday morning public affairs show The Vineyard Current, in November 2016 at 88.7 FM.
Jo Ann Murphy, the veterans service officer for Dukes County and Former Commander of American Legion Post #257 in Vineyard Haven, spoke about artifacts in the building and the need for repairs and upkeep. The segment included a call to tradesmen who might want to donate services or materials to help preserve the building.
The segment won the merit award for public service announcement. The award was presented on Thursday, Nov. 2.
