It has been a cold, damp, blustery week of weather. Any significant sign of fall foliage has gone by the wayside. Temperatures have been in the 30s to 50s, and it almost felt as though it would actually snow a few days this week.

The Martha’s Vineyard Hospital must be scrambling to find coverage for Dr. Peter Laursen and Dr. Stuart Kendall who both retired this year after their 40-year careers at the hospital. In the meantime, Dr. Chansky has covered both practices which were rather busy ones. I just received a telephone call from Dr. Chansky’s office to change my appointment of Dec. 18 as she is leaving on Dec. 13. So here I am with several chronic illnesses and here the Vineyard is in 2017 without physician coverage. Oh, a new physician might arrive in January but they do not know yet. None of the offices are taking new patients. Glad I refilled my prescriptions yesterday as in a few weeks that would have been impossible. Stay tuned.
