Is there a special angel out there for Chief? Chief is a very large, Saint Bernard/Australian Shepherd mix, four years of age. He will need an experienced dog owner as he is powerful boy with a very strong prey drive. Due to his prey drive he cannot go to a home with farm and/or other small animals. Is someone out there willing to give Chief a forever home, he’s a very sweet dog? Please contact the Shelter if you would like to meet him; he is still residing with his current owner.

In last weeks recap of adoptions this year we inadvertently missed three wonderful kittens. There was gray kitten Fred, the feral found at Trader Fred’s, and Sargent Pepper Anderson, another stray kitten found by a police officer. And of course baby Halo, who shelter manager Lisa and volunteer Missy brought back from near death when she arrived at the shelter. Lucky kittens and families.

We’d like to take this time to thank Chilmark Chocolates for all they do for the Shelter. And a huge thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers. From those who help keep the shelter clean, those who help with mailings and annual events, and even the kind souls who just come to help with socializing our residents. Your time and dedication is greatly appreciated, especially by our residents.

Still looking for holiday gifts? The Black Dog has blankets for sale and 10 per cent of the proceeds will be donated to the Shelter. Many thanks.
