Mike Ferry of West Tisbury was named the winner of the 2017 Martha’s Vineyard Rod and Gun Club fall shotgun shoot, held the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Mr. Ferry scored the highest total points by combining his scores in the standing deer targets, shots closest to the bulls eye event, and shoot offs for best score with targets set at the 60-yard marker. He won 17 out of 25.

Second place went to Matt Millard of Edgartown, with nine out of 25, and Cliff Meehan of Edgartown won third place with eight of 25.

The shotgun shoot is held annually in preparation for the deer season, and gives hunters a chance to sight their guns. Many took home canned hams donated by Cronig’s Market.

The black powder shoot will not be held this year.
