Spring must be in the air, Mel is hop, hop hopping around his cage. He wants so much to find a forever home where he can hop around and stretch his legs. Mel is a large white lop-eared rabbit with brindle ears, one of which stands up while the other flops down. He also happens to be neutered. As rabbits go you couldn’t do better than Mel. He’s super friendly, enjoys sitting in a lap and being pet or brushed, and he even talks in quiet grunts. Could you be the one to make Mel’s life complete?

Residents of the cat room include Nesta, a very sweet 14-year-old tuxedo girl who is beginning to come out of her shell. Cully is a male gray Russian Blue with golden eyes who is also on the shy side. Cully will surely blossom in a home, he enjoys being held and is quite affectionate. We also have two tabby girls needing forever homes. Zoe is only nine and very sweet. She just wants someone to love. Holly is looking for someone who will allow her to be herself and set the boundaries. At only five she has a lot of love waiting to come out.

There will be a nail clinic at the shelter from 10 a.m. to noon on April 21. Suggested donation is $15. The rabies clinic on April 7 was a huge success. Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers and everyone who showed up to have their pets vaccinated.

And of course big thank you to Dr. Quigly and his technicians from the Animal Rescue League of Boston’s spay/neuter wagon. While at the shelter on Wednesday, April 11 they spayed or neutered three dogs and 20 cats. They will be here again in May. Please contact your local animal control officer for more information if you have a pet you would like to have spayed or neutered.

And lastly, if anyone needs any crates or dog food, please stop in to pick some up. We have an abundance of both and are happy to share.

Shelter hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
