The High School View, the student newspaper at the regional high school, earned the highest achievement award in its class at the New England Scholastic Press Association. The school newspaper also won first place honors in the all-New England award category.

In addition, four students received individual special achievement awards. Junior Mackenzie Condon won for her news story, New Track Promises Community Support; she and junior Alexis Condon won for their news story, Nor’easter Traps Vacationers Off-Island; sophomore Emily Gazzaniga won for her feature story, Volunteers Experience Global Exchange; senior Lizzie Williamson won for her bylined column Lost and Found; and sophomore Daniel Rivard won for his news photo, Band Establishes a Community Presence.

The High School View is prepared by students at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School and published during the school year as a page in The Martha’s Vineyard Times. The editors in chief are juniors Henry Hitchings and Mackenzie Condon, and senior Rose Engler.

Regional high school English teacher Kate Hennigan and former English department chair Dan Sharkovitz served as the newspaper’s co-advisers over the course of this past year.
