Mel has found his forever home! The beautiful white rabbit has been adopted by a family who can give him lots of space to hop, hop, hop to his heart’s content. And I’m sure they’re enjoying his happy little grunts. Congratulations.
Big dog enthusiasts only please. Trooper is a year old reddish-brown golden doodle with a lot of puppy enthusiasm. He is a very sweet, good-natured boy who has been well trained but needs a family willing to continue his training to rein in some of that enthusiasm. Once established in the right forever home Trooper is going to be one great dog. Stop in and meet him to see if he could be the perfect companion for you and yours. If you are interested in meeting him please contact the shelter as soon as possible as there are a number of folks interested in this dog.
Three cats are currently residing in the cat room. The females are Holly and Nesta. Nesta is a 14 year-old tuxedo with a black spot on her upper lip. She can be a little on the shy side but is seeking out affection more and more. Holly is the five year-old tabby who needs to find a home where she can feel comfortable and be with someone who understands her unique personality.
While technically in the cat room, due to his shyness Cully is in the kitty condo. He is a gorgeous nine-year-old Russian blue with big golden eyes. Though he’s shy, he does come out to visit with folks he likes, and when he does come out he loves to be held and pet. And he also has a lovely purr. Cully is sure to become a wonderful companion once he feels comfortable in his own home. Could that home be yours?
We also have two stunningly beautiful and sweet medium haired female cats found in the vicinity of Windemere Road in Oak Bluffs. Wilma is black with eyes so golden they appear orange, and Gracie is a light and dark gray tabby with a very puffy tail. Gracie is the friendlier of the two. She’s a lap cat that purrs all the time, and it’s a cute little purr, who also give kisses and comes to greet you. She’s also a bit of a talker. Wilma, who may be her daughter, is a bit shyer but also adores affection and purrs and purrs. She is starting to seek out laps and is a real people lover. Both are lovely, sweet, indoor/outdoor cats that are still quite young. They would be great for families with children.
Remember that Edgartown’s Pink and Green Weekend is this weekend. Please join us Saturday for the dog show where dogs dressed in pink and green vie to see who’s cutest and win a prize. You and your dog can choose to participate, or just come by to join in on the fun. The shelter will be partnering with the Black Dog, which will be giving out gifts as well. Meanwhile, back at the shelter, there will also be the monthly nail clinic on May 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Suggested donation is $15.
The Animal Rescue League of Boston’s Spay and Neuter Waggin’ was at the shelter for their last visit of the season May 9. While here they spayed or neutered 14 animals, six dogs and eight cats. We’d like to welcome their new vet Emily Forline, and extend congratulation to Dr. Quigly on his promotion and wish him continued success. If you have a pet that needs to be spayed or neutered please contact your local animal control officer for more details. Their next visit will be in September.
The shelter is seeking adult volunteers to answer the phone and meet and greet people on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday afternoons. If interested give us a call or stop by for more information.
Lastly, if anyone needs any crates or dog food, please stop in to pick some up. We have an abundance of both and are happy to share.
