On the morning of Monday, May 21, several hundred Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School students will take part in an Islandwide community service day. During the day students will work with members of Vineyard Conservation Society to remove invasive plant species from areas around the Island, play with preschoolers at Rainbow Place and Island Children’s School, take care of animals at Second Chance Animal Shelter, exercise with the elderly at the Center for Living, clean up beaches, and spruce up land bank properties.

Students who choose to remain at the high school will cook the lunch for returning students and work with custodians to improve the condition of the building.

The idea for Islanders Give Back Day started in the global politics and civics class taught by Ena Thulin.
