Anna and I went up to East Taunton to be with daughter Nicole and her family for Mother’s Day. Nicole’s husband Arsen grilled enough food for an army that was quite pleasant. Anna’s sister Nina her husband Dieter were invited and Arsen’s mom Aieda stopped by to visit. She brought along Armenian desserts for all to share. We shopped on Sunday. Our son Sam came along and was helpful with the children. We all got home on a late boat.

Old friends Ben Moore and his sister Gay Nelson died last week. Both of them had been in poor health for some time. Ben, a successful architect, designed the original library building at the State Road location and was a member of the Martha’s Vineyard Commission for several years. Gay was the children’s librarian for many years. Both were popular figures in town. Our condolences to their families.

Well, that is all of the social news for this week’s edition. If you have any news please call or email me. Another trivia fact: Saturday in 1940, Prime Minister Winston Churchill takes command as Great Britain’s new Prime Minister, and he assures Parliament that his new policy will consist of nothing less than “to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might.”

Have a great week.
