Adoptions are continuing. Cully, the shy Russian blue cat, went home with his favorite little girl, and Gracie, the stunning gray tabby, had someone fall head over heels for her as well. Now that spring weather has finally arrived love is in the air. Maybe you can find your true love here.

For anyone looking for a hypoallergenic dog, or not, we have a lovely three year-old black Portuguese water dog here at the shelter. His name is Miguel and he does have the breed’s exuberance so his training will need to be continued. But he knows his basics and is super friendly. Stop in to see if he could be your guy.

There is also a silver male standard poodle (hypoallergenic) named Mateo looking to find his forever home. He has a wonderful disposition, but he definitely needs to learn some manners. If you think you might be interested please contact the shelter to set up an appointment to meet him. He is currently in a foster home.

The two litters of kittens and their mothers are all thriving. Tess, the mother of the older kittens, has even found her forever home once her babies are weaned and she’s been spayed. Molly is the other mom. She is tabby and white with striking amber eyes. She is very sweet and loves attention. She would make an awesome family pet. The seven kittens are adorable as can be, but we prefer that they get a bit older before you come to visit or inquire about adoption.

Wilma, the stunning medium-haired black cat with the orange/gold eyes, is awaiting the birth of her kittens in about a month. She is sweet, sweet, sweet, but prefers not to be held. Her preference is to sit beside you, purr like mad, and, maybe spend a little time in your lap. But she loves up attention. She’s another one that will make a wonderful family pet.

The residents of the cat room are Mr. Kitty, Nesta and Holly. Mr. Kitty and Nesta are very friendly tuxedos. Nesta is about 14 and has a cute black spot on her nose. She’s a friendly girl but also likes to keep to herself sometimes. Mr. Kitty has recuperated from his injury and is ready to find his forever home. He’s quite friendly and affectionate. Can you make his life complete? And then there’s Holly, the five-year-old tabby. Holly can be somewhat standoffish and likes to set her own boundaries and rules so will need an understanding owner who won’t push her buttons. Is there an angel out there for Holly?

The shelter has a few events coming up so mark your calendars. Saturday, June 2, please join us for the Celebration of the Animals. It takes place on the porch of the Harbor View Hotel where Father Nagle will be blessing the animals beginning at 11 a.m. If you would like to take part in this annual event please arrive around 10:30 a.m. The next nail clinic at the shelter will be held on June 16 from 10 a.m. until 1p.m. Suggested donation is $15. And don’t forget to get your tickets for our annual Garden Party on June 25. Tickets are available from the shelter. We are looking for jewelry donations for the jewelry sale at the Garden Party. They can be dropped off at the Shelter during regular business hours.

We are in need of adult volunteers to answer the phone and meet and greet people on Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoons. If interested give us a call or stop by for more information. And if anyone needs any crates or dog food, please stop in to pick some up. We have an abundance of both and are happy to share.
