On Thursday evening, the film center in Vineyard Haven begins its sixth annual FilMusic festival, a four-day showing of films about music. The features range from a concert for George Harrison, put on a year after his death, to the long, strange trip of the Grateful Dead, to Itzhak Perlman, Leroy Jones and Clive Davis.

The festival begins, as it always does, on a quiet note by showing a silent film with a live orchestra. This year’s film is The Man Who Laughs from 1928. The Berklee Silent Film Orchestra will set up camp in the film center and provide a live score. It is an experience not to be missed.

The Martha’s Vineyard Film Center is located at 79 Beach Road in Vineyard Haven. The opening night festivities on Thursday, June 21 begin with a reception at 6:30 p.m. The Man Who Laughs screens at 7:30 p.m.
