Karen Altieri has been named the new director of development at radio station WMVY (88.7 FM). Ms. Altieri will focus on fundraising for the nonprofit station via major donors and grant opportunities.

Ms. Altieri was born and raised in Newtown, Conn., and moved to the Island more than 20 years ago. She attended Western Connecticut State University with a concentration in marketing management. Prior to joining WMVY, she was in advertising sales at the Vineyard Gazette for 11 years. She has been involved with various Vineyard nonprofits and raised her now 24-year-old twins on the Island.
