It is beginning to feel like summer again in Aquinnah with temperatures in the 80s and hot and humid days. A thunderstorm did not even break the humidity. The lawns are greening as before the drought.
It is the 20th anniversary for the town of Aquinnah which became official on August 5, 1998.
Enjoy the new basketball court by the Aquinnah fire station but please do not play basketball before 9 a.m. in consideration of neighbors.
Rich and Karen Derby have returned home after spending a week in Aquinnah while participating in tribal activities.
Congratulations and all the best to Daryn Foster and Alex Woodlief who will be married in Malibu next month. Daryn is the daughter of Gary and Lisa Foster who hosted a Vineyard reception for them recently.
Congratulations and all the best to Sam Fankuchen, son of Dr. Elliott Fankuchen and Dr. Lisa Kantrowitz, who will be married this month in Mexico. Sam is the grandson of Jean Kantrowitz and the late Dr. Adrian Kantrowitz. Jean, the family matriarch, will accompany the family to Mexico for the festivities.
Mac and Trisha Haskell are at their Lobsterville home enjoying time with their neighbors Max and Cheryl Batzer. Jack Hills has returned home after a two-week visit with his aunt and uncle Amy and John Macey and their son Zach.
Dan Kistner and his son Ryan were recent guests of his sister Theresa Manning and Paul and Noah Manning. Dan, Ryan, Paul and Theresa enjoyed a Foo Fighters concert at Fenway Park on July 21. Stephanie Kistner and her friend Lance of Poughkeepsie also recently visited her aunt Theresa, uncle Paul and cousin Noah. They enjoyed a grand Vineyard tour. Theresa and Noah returned home after a weekend visit with her parents and his grandparents Bill and Joan Kistner in Pleasant Valley, N.Y.
Albert Lana, Jr. and his wife Anna are here from Connecticut with their children Albert 3rd and his wife Megan and their children Adrian, Gavin, Ben and Emma as well as their daughter Shari and her husband Steven and their children Amelia and Aaron.
Amera Madison returned to California after a brief stay with family and friends in Aquinnah.
Cynthia Middleton and her family are at their Lobsterville home including daughter Amy and grandchildren Sophie, Jacob, and Charlie.
Ana Sargent has been visiting from her home in California.
Saturday will be Coast Guard Day when former members who served at Station Menemsha will return for a potluck luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to offer words of wisdom to those presently serving. Chief Justin Longval will welcome those from the community, having recently moved here with his spouse Tara and their children Evan and Ella.
