Adoptions continue to happen and that makes everyone here at the shelter happy. Zena, the pit bull mix, has found a family that adores her and she went to her new home this past week. Another family arrived one day and decided to adopt Chloe, Misty and one of her kittens. Good news for everyone.

Attention tiny dog lover, have we got the dog for you! Henry is an 11-years-young teacup Maltese. He’s just adorable, perky, attentive, and a real doll. He has no problems with cats and would be happiest in a home with someone who will make him their constant companion.

As always some animals leave to go to new homes and some come looking for new ones. Mercury is our newest resident hoping to find that special family or person. He’s an orange and white cat, about five years old. So far he seems very nice but he’s still adjusting to his new surroundings.

Cheshire and her kittens are doing well with the kittens coming around more and more each day. One has already left for her forever home. Cheshire is a tuxedo with black markings on her face that make her seem to be smiling. She’s a very friendly girl who seeks out attention. Her male kitten is a tuxedo, and the three girls consist of a white and black, a dark calico, and a Siamese mix with white paws. If you’re interested call the shelter to have your name added to the kitten list, it currently has about 40 names.

We still have a few older cats in need of new homes. Mr. Man is a year old, solid black cat. He is so friendly he’s been described as being more like a dog than a cat, he’ll follow you everywhere. Also in the cat room is Lucy, a shy, five year, old long hair calico with a cute white blaze, and an orange puff at the end of her tail. Mr. Kitty has black and white marking resembling a Holstein cow. He may be eight but he’s very playful.

Holly, the five year-old tabby, is residing in the kitty condo. She has a unique personality and she can be somewhat standoffish and moody. She needs a considerate and understanding owner

who will give her the time she needs to become her true self. Holly came to us from a hoarding situation, no one knew there was a cat in the house and it took a few days before she appeared.

Rabbit lovers, where are you? Pickle is a four years young, brown and black, lionshead rabbit with floppy ears and a lion’s mane of fur. His face actually looks a little like a Pekinese dog. He’s real sweetie who enjoys being held and getting attention.

Guinea Pigs, Maple and Lucky, are also looking for homes. These boys are hand raised and very sweet. Guinea Pigs are wonderful pets for children and they adore attention.

A reminder that the next nail clinic will be held on August 11 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The suggested donation is $15.

Now that summer is here the shelter would like to remind all pet owners how quickly temperatures rise in a closed vehicle. Additionally, please be mindful of how hot the asphalt and pavement can be on delicate paws in the summer heat.

We still need adult volunteers to answer the phone and meet and greet people on Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoons. And if anyone needs any crates or dog food, please stop in to pick some up.
