Halloween looms around the corner on Wednesday, Oct. 31, but that doesn’t mean you have to wait until the witching hour to get spooky. All manner of events at businesses, libraries and bars take place this weekend, some of which are for good causes. For example, from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday there is a Halloween bowling fundraiser to benefit Harbor Homes of MV at the Barn, Bowl & Bistro in Oak Bluffs. The cost is $25 per person.

The towns are also getting in the spirit. On Saturday in Oak Bluffs there is trick-or-treating at all businesses on Circuit avenue that have a poster displayed in their windows. The fun begins at 10 a.m. Then on Sunday, head over to Edgartown’s Main street for trick-or-treating at local businesses from noon to 3 p.m.

The big event is of course on Oct. 31, and most of the crowds of ghosts, goblins and spiders will head to William street in Vineyard Haven. To keep the event safe, roads will be closed in the area from 4 to 8 p.m.

Up-Island in West Tisbury, the Agricultural Hall hosts a party from 6 to 8 p.m. complete with spooky hayrides through the graveyard. Further along the Chilmark Volunteer Firefighter’s Association hosts a party at the Chilmark Community Center from 5 to 6 p.m.

Visit the calender to see the wide range of Halloween events all over the Island.
