Valerio Destefani of Vineyard Haven is among a group that will receive the Marian Medal in recognition of service to the Catholic church.

The Marian Medal recognizes members of parishes in Fall River, New Bedford, Taunton, Attleboro and Cape Cod and the Islands for their dedication and service to the church.

Past recipients on the Vineyard include the late Claire Fournier Mercier of Edgartown.

Valerio is a member of the Good Shepard parish. Medals will be awarded by Bishop Edgar M. da Cunha on Sunday, Nov. 18, at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption in Fall River.
