The bright gibbous moon dominates our evening skies this weekend, making it hard to find the faint stars of winter. Tonight, the moon is in the zodiacal constellation Taurus, a constellation we associate with the holiday season and colder months ahead.
By Monday night, the moon ambles into the zodiacal constellation Gemini. The moon appears about as high in the night sky as it gets. This is one of the northern zodiacal constellations.
The planet Venus is now poised for easy viewing for anyone outside early in the morning. Venus rises well before sun. It is in the zodiacal constellation Virgo, a constellation we associate with spring.
Just take a moment to look to the eastern sky and Venus appears above the trees and brighter than anything else in the sky. In a low-powered telescope, Venus appears in the crescent phase, close to first quarter phase.
