For the 37th straight year, Edgartown transforms itself into a holiday wonderland for Christmas in Edgartown. From Dec. 6 to Dec. 9 the festivities will be as continuous as they are varied. Sponsored by the Edgartown Board of Trade, the weekend is an all-inclusive event with over 100 businesses joining the fun, including Santa visits, horse and carriage rides, singing and strolling, shopping and eating.

Topping the list of activities is the lighting of the Edgartown Lighthouse at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7. This year the official viewing will take place at Memorial Wharf by the Chappaquiddick ferry. After the lighting, the Minnesingers concert at the Old Whaling Church begins at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the parade begins at 11 a.m. and runs along Main street, with all manner of festive floats. Afterward, enjoy the Plum Hill Elves Fair, a Wild Holiday with Felix Neck at the Covington, or stop by the Vineyard Gazette for a tour and some Gazette gift wrapping.

On Sunday it’s breakfast with Santa at the Wharf, beginning at 8 a.m. with all proceeds going to the Jim Lambert Memorial Scholarship for Island students. Also for charity on Sunday is the Teddy Bear Suite 5K run/walk through town, beginning at 10 a.m.
