A really beautiful sunset on Tuesday evening–a nice ending to a very cold day in Aquinnah after numerous grey days. It will be even better to enjoy that extra minute of light at the end of each day for the next few months.
The Aquinnah Christmas party will be on Sunday, Dec. 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the town hall. Santa Claus will arrive by his usual mode of transport aboard the Aquinnah fire truck at around 6 p.m. There will be a potluck dinner, so please bring a dish to share, as well as a little holiday cheer.
The kids craft tomorrow at Aquinnah Public Library will be to make a snowflake ornament. On Dec. 27, it is pizza night at the library with a kids movie, pizza and veggies at 5 p.m.
Community Baptist Church of Gay Head will observe Christmas Eve services with Reverend Leo Christian on Monday, Dec. 24 with the annual candlelight service being held at 5 p.m. Traditional lessons, Christmas carols and lighting of the candles. First Baptist Church in Tisbury will observe candlelight service at 7 p.m. at the corner of Spring and William streets. For more information, please call 508-693-1539.

All the best to Joshua T. Brooks who was discharged this past week from the U.S. Coast Guard after fulfilling his four-year commitment. Josh will head back to Queens, N.Y. where he anticipates a career as a fireman, having already passed the examination for the position. He will return to visit his friends at Station Menemsha when the weather is a little warmer.
Noah and Sammy Kausch will arrive this weekend to spend Christmas with their grandparents Tom and Christine Murphy.
Kathy Kendrick is looking forward to having a houseful of family for Christmas at their Pancake Hollow home and looks forward to her son, Jeffrey, arriving Friday from California.
