An Edgartown man is being held without bail after being arraigned two weeks ago on charges of violating an abuse prevention order and intimidating a witness in connection with separate charges that date to September.

Lucas V. Quintiliano, 32, was arraigned on Sept. 28 in Edgartown district court on charges of rape, strangulation or suffocation, assault and battery on a family/household member and assault and battery resulting in serious bodily harm. He was released on bail on Oct. 26, with a pretrial hearing scheduled for Jan. 4.

According to a statement of facts filed in court, the alleged victim appeared at the Tisbury police station on Dec. 5 to report that the defendant’s mother contacted her to ask her to drop the charges. The alleged victim also reported receiving threats from the defendant on Dec. 3 and was granted a restraining order, which the defendant violated, police said. The statement reports that the defendant also sent voice messages to the alleged victim via her father.

According to a statement of facts filed in connection with the Sept. 28 charges, the alleged victim appeared at the Tisbury police station on Sept. 27 to report domestic violence. The statement said the victim showed various signs of physical assault and was transported to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. At the hospital the alleged victim reported having been being raped by the defendant on May 15 and 16, the police statement said.

Mr. Quintiliano is being held at the Edgartown house of correction. A hearing is set for Jan. 4.
