Big news from 200 Main street. The Tisbury Vision Forum and the library building committee will host a meeting on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. to plan a community meeting room addition to our building. The room will be multipurpose. Noted architect Maryann Thompson, who holds masters degrees in architecture and landscape architecture, will proceed with the plan when we form it. Maryann has Island ties and is very enthused about this project. And in the usual library spirit, refreshments will be served. I’ll see you there.

Our warming centers are opening up. Different community meals are offered weekly. Lookout for your neighbors in this cold, bleak season.

There will be warmth and poetry and pie as well as plenty of entertainment at the Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse Thursday, Jan. 10, for our monthly offseason poetry cafe hosted by Arnie Riesman. Great entertainment by some of our favorite Island poets. The Pie Chicks bring a pastel of pies. Ten dollars at the door gets you a wonderful night out. We start at 7 p.m. I’ll see you there.

I will be watching the Pats game Sunday with my good friend, Andy Salsa Aponte. Well, not in the same room, not even in the same state, but we shall be watching and texting and calling and cheering. Andy is the consummate fan. He has a collection of Pats gear, posters, blankets, bedspreads, cups, plates, you get it. Andy has the flu now or we would be in the same state watching the Pats together. Perhaps we shall be by Super Bowl Sunday.

Representative Randy Hunt from Sandwich will join us for a great conference at the program room of our library on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 5:30 p.m. The “Cord-Cutting” workshop will explore options for less expensive alternatives to cable and satellite TV. This interactive presentation will introduce you to streaming services and more. All library programs are free and all are welcome.

World traveler, my buddy Sarah Menchu, sends love and photos from Colombia. And while I am off Island for a few days I cannot thank Bobbie Jo Sears and Tamma Cimeno enough for taking such good care of Silvio and Lil’Bit. What great friends these two are.

Our condolences go out to Sarah Powell. Her faithful companion, Humphrey, passed last Friday. In my mind’s eye I can still see them on their long and wondrous beach walks.

Get well wishes go out to Angel J. Pinto and Andy Salsa Aponte, two Pats fans forever.

The birthday bandwagon pulled along Piper Murphy and Barbara Beichek on Jan. 5; Angel Parker turned 14 on Jan. 7; Judy Belushi Pisano celebrated on Jan. 8; Pat Schofield also partied on Jan. 8; my grandson, Dominic Leigh Clark, gains another year on Jan. 10; Marybeth Roden claims Jan. 16; and on Jan. 17 Emmalee Ward and Rosemary Gambino take the cake. Many happy returns.
