The Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank reported revenues of $323,333 for the business week ending Feb. 1, 2019. The land bank receives its funds from a two per cent fee charged on many Vineyard real estate transactions
Much of the land bank revenue last week came from the town of West Tisbury, where three transactions resulted in $160,654. Two transactions earned $39,000 in Chilmark. Five transactions resulted in $18,880 for Edgartown. Six transactions earned $40,148 in Tisbury. Three transactions earned $21,650 in Oak Bluffs. One transaction in Aquinnah earned $43,000 for the land bank.
The land bank uses its revenues to purchase and manage land for purposes of conservation, preservation and passive recreation. To date the agency has participated in the purchase of more than 3,243 acres of Vineyard land.
