Holly the cat is only six years old and needs a good deal of personal space. She is interacting with visitors more and more and really enjoys getting treats and will even take them from your hand. She’s also quite playful. Come meet her and find out if you could be the family for her. Finn needs a new home and he’s a real snuggler who likes to sleep under the covers with you. He’s a black and white neutered male, two plus years old, with lovely green eyes. He has the sweetest disposition and is still very playful. Finn comes from a multi-cat home where he’s the bottom of the totem pole. His owners feel that he would be happier in another home with fewer cats. If you’re interested in meeting Finn please contact the shelter to set up a meeting as he will be staying in his home until the perfect match is made.

We have a special needs cat that would be a great addition to any home. The Earl of Cecil is only six, solid black with luminous green eyes, and the sweetest disposition ever. We believe he suffered a stroke or a seizure and now has very limited vision. However, he has no trouble getting around and is a real snuggle puss. If you have a beard that would make him really happy.

This year’s rabies clinic which will be held on Saturday, April 6 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. There will be only one location this year at the West Tisbury Fire Station at 452 State Road. The vaccine is good for one year and the cost is $25 per pet. To receive a three-year vaccine, you must provide proof (rabies certificate) that your pet has been vaccinated at a previous time in its life. Additionally, dogs must be leashed and cats/ferrets in a carrier.

Thank you to all the Islanders and visitors who make considerable donations to the shelter through our donation jars. These donation jars are located in many Island establishments. Please consider making a donation at one of these places, even if it’s just your spare change.

With the cold weather upon us be mindful of the temperature if you plan on leaving your dog in a car for any length of time. And we are always taking jewelry donations for our Summer Garden Party.

We still need adult volunteers to answer the phone and meet and greet people on Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoons. If interested give us a call or stop by for more information. And if anyone needs any crates or dog food, please stop in to pick some up. We have an abundance of both and are happy to share.

Shelter hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday.
