Great days of sunshine in Aquinnah all week with several nights of rain. The herring are running. The mute swans that have been in Squibnocket for the past few months have moved aside for the herring and are now in Meadow Lake.

Palm Sunday services will be conducted by the Rev. Leo Christian at the Community Baptist Church of Gay Head at 9 a.m. on April 14. Easter sunrise service will be at 6 a.m. on April 21.

Mark your calendars for presentations at the Up-Island Council on Aging at the Howes House. On April 17 at 2 p.m., the program is titled Learn the Art of Origami, the ancient art of Japanese paper folding. Free to all. Please RSVP at 508-693-2896. Mabel and Jerry 2! Obstacles to the Altar by Steve Henderson, will be on April 22 at 1 p.m. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Martha’s Vineyard Cultural Council as well as by Friends of Up-Island Council on Aging. On Wednesday, April 24 at 1:30 p.m., the program will be titled Meet Your Tri-Town Paramedics Retmier and Belinda Booker. Light refreshments will be served.

Congratulations to Jesse Wiener and his wife Maggie Joy Anderson on the birth of their first child, a daughter, Ruby Marie Wiener who was born on April 6 in New York. Ruby Marie is the sixth grandchild of Jerry Wiener and Carolyn Feltz. We shall await her debut in Aquinnah.

Sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Ted Morgan who died on Sunday. He was a man of immense valor who instilled pride and patriotism everywhere he went — a true leader in all aspects of his career over the decades. His death is a loss for the Vineyard community that he treasured.
