Art is in the air this weekend as galleries all over the Island open their doors for the new season. There is also the Vineyard Artisans Fair as Island artists of all mediums host the 21st annual Memorial Day festival at the Grange Hall in West Tisbury from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, a taste of the Island gallery scene can take one to Edgartown for the opening of the Old Sculpin Gallery at 58 Dock street and the Nikki Sedacca Galley on 17 Winter street.

The Eisenhauer Gallery at 38 North Water street hosts an opening reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. featuring the work of Elizabeth Lennie along with the music of Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish.

And new kid on the block, The Kenworthy Gallery, hosts a launch party from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday as it makes its debut in town.

Over in Oak Bluffs, the Alison Shaw Gallery at 88 Dukes County avenue celebrates with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and in Vineyard Haven the Louisa Gould Gallery at 58 Main street welcomes the season with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday.

When up-Island, head over to the Granary Gallery at 636 Old County Road in West Tisbury and the Kara Taylor Gallery at 24 South Road in Chilmark.

This is just a sampling of all the art on display at galleries this weekend.

And don’t forget, while driving from gallery to gallery look out the window at what nature has brought to the party.
