The Yard begins their summer shows at the Chilmark campus on June 9 with its annual Schonberg Fellows Residency. After that it’s off to the races with Joanna Kotze on June 13 and 15, Tap the Yard on June 20 and 22 and a host of programming all through the summer.

But fear not, dance fever is part of Memorial Day weekend — but it requires a trip to Chappy.

On Saturday, May 25 from 1 to 3 p.m., Yard dancers will help celebrate opening day at Mytoi, the Japanese garden on Chappy with a pop-up performance among the bonsai and koi ponds. Wander Mytoi and make like a tree or bush, if one feels so moved, with Yard dancers to inspire. There will be shuttles from the ferry at 1, 1:30 and 2 p.m.

Bring a picnic lunch to go with the light refreshments provided.

And then, after traveling home a bit lighter in step, start marking the calendar to head up to Chilmark to continue dancing to the beat of another Vineyard summer.
