The Martha’s Vineyard Emergency Notification System (CodeRED) will be tested during the week of June 25 to validate telephone numbers in the Island database.

Residents are advised of the following:

• There is no need to take action if you receive the call. Emergency personnel are only testing the system to ensure it is operational.

• Testing helps improve the system.

• To update or add information to the database, residents and businesses are encouraged to visit the CodeRed website (https://public.coderedweb.com/CNE/en-US/978F92D50FBE) or click on the CodeRED logo found on the official websites of the six island towns and Dukes County. In particular, people who have unlisted phone numbers, who have changed their phone number or address within the past year or use a cellular phone or VoIP phone as their primary number are encouraged to sign up.

Alex Schaeffer is the Edgartown emergency manager and current president of the Martha’s Vineyard Emergency Managers Association (MVEMA).

For anyone with questions or needing assistance with registration, MVEMA will staff a call center at the Oak Bluffs fire station on June 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The phone number is 508-693-5380.
