Thank you to everyone who attended and/or volunteered at our annual Garden Party last Monday. It was a successful evening yet again. Our residents truly appreciate your generosity.

There’s one adoption to report this week: the lovely dilute tortoiseshell, Mistique, had someone fall for her and she has moved on.

Who’s looking for a tabby cat? We currently have two females and one male available for adoption. The male is Mr. Softee, a young stray found at the Lambert’s Cove Inn, where he was visiting the dining room. He got his name because of how soft his coat is. He’s very friendly, purrs like crazy and is double pawed.

Spenser is a lovely seven-year-old indoor cat who is very sweet and affectionate, with the most beautiful green eyes. She can be a little shy at first but once she warms up she couldn’t be friendlier.

Our last tabby girl is six-year-old Holly. She’s been here well over a year and really needs to find her permanent home.

If tabbies are not your thing, we have a wonderful orange male. He’s a smaller boy with an awesome personality. He’s been declawed so he must be an indoor cat. This guy adores everyone and just wants someone to love him back.

We have a special needs cat, The Earl of Cecil, looking for someone to love. He is only six, solid black with luminous green eyes and the sweetest disposition. We believe he suffered a stroke or a seizure and now has very limited vision, but he has no trouble getting around.

Who wants a Guinea pig(s)? We currently have three youngsters in need of homes. All three were hand raised and enjoy being held and played with. The girl is gray and white with a rosette. The boys are both black and white (one resembles a skunk) with rosettes.

FYI, Beach Road Weekend, scheduled for August 9 to 11, has announced a partnership with the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard. The Shelter will have a presence at the concert on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m.

Flea and tick season is here so please make sure to keep up with protection for your pets and yourself. Also keep in mind how quickly car temperature can soar on a hot day, so it may not be wise to take your best friend along. And be aware of the pavement temperature if you plan on taking your dog for a walk. Hot pavement can burn delicate pads.

If anyone is in need of dog food or pet crates, please stop by. We have plenty and are happy to share.

We are always taking jewelry donations for next year’s Garden Party.

We still need adult volunteers to answer the phone and meet and greet people on Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoons. If you can help, give us a call or stop by for more information.
