Twenty-two years and counting! Allan and Michele Berman are back on Hines Point and ready to celebrate their 55th anniversary with family and friends.

The contingent from Brooklyn are happy to be here. Greg and Carolyn Berman will soon be empty nesters, with Hannah entering her junior year at Wesleyan and preparing to study in Bologna this fall. Sister Milly will spend the summer at University of London. She will be applying to colleges here in the autumn. MJ arrived after dropping the twins, Nelly and Scotty, off at summer camp. Charlie and Teddy are on-Island now and headed to their camps later this season. What a great family! I have had the pleasure to watch them grow. See you at the street fair.

Sharon and Gail Becker arrived safely on Monday. This is another seasonal family with a long Island summer tradition. We shall miss Martin Becker, who passed in March, more than I can say. Any sailboat I see makes me think of him.

Tori Campbell is back this week to host a special presentation of her movie, House of Bones. This is the 10th anniversary of her family documentary memorializing the family house in West Chop. Richard Paradise will show it at the Capawock tonight, June 28, at 4 p.m. Tori will be there to welcome you and participate in a Q & A after.

David Whitmon, of the orange velomobile with Peace on Earth painted on its side, hosted a group of his Velomobile Club on the Island last weekend. The riders had near perfect weather and a grand reunion.

Noel Macy came to visit for a few days before the always-on-the-move young man headed to Six Flags and a casino in New Jersey. No moss grows on my young friend!

Renaissance House, a retreat for writers, will hold its annual reading of the Frederick Douglass speech What to the Slave is the Fourth of July? The speech will be read at the Inkwell at 4:30 p.m. Arrive at 4 p.m. if you want to sign up to read. Renaissance House has been organized and run by Abigail McGrath for many years. I’ll see you there.

Our Martha’s Vineyard High School girls tennis team won the state championship for the fifth year in a row. If you heard the police vehicles, fire trucks and boat whistle screeching last weekend that was just us welcoming them back. Congratulations!

The Tisbury Street Fair will always be Cora Medeiros’s birthday party to me.

On July 8 be prepared to see our Main street closed to traffic for our annual Tisbury birthday party. Lots of good food, games and music. You may park at the high school and board a free shuttle.

Our condolences to Karen, housemate and dear friend of Bonnie Baptiste Bassett, on the passing of her pet, Allie. Allie was a charming and sweet-faced little Guinea pig who is already sorely missed.

Altin Rizi and Nicole Stagg Rizi celebrated their wedding anniversary on June 23 at the site on the Hudson where they were married.

Anniversary bouquets go out to Tim and Tootie Keiffer on July 4.

The birthday bandwagon pulled along Luca Manalli on June 23. Young Charlie Masi also celebrated. Ashley A. Byrd and Carly Simon claimed June 25. On July 1st Dick Clark takes the cake. Many happy returns.
