MVY Radio has signed an agreement to buy a commercial property in West Tisbury, an announcement from the nonprofit radio station said this week.

The station plans to buy the building at 489 State Road that is currently the home of Vineyard Complementary Medicine, which plans to relocate to Post Office Square in Edgartown.

An October closing date is planned, although the actual relocation will not take place until the summer of 2020. The purchase price was not disclosed.

MVY Radio executive director PJ Finn said the station’s transmitter and tower will remain in the same location on Carroll’s Way, but the business operation will relocate to West Tisbury.

The new location will afford more space, he said.

“I think the move allows us to grow as a nonprofit and to fulfill our role in serving the community. It is going to create better programming opportunities. Down the road, we’d love to have it outfitted with video equipment so we can stream live performances. That’s the sort of thing that is in our future.”
