Another week of beautiful weather in Aquinnah. Apparently it rained one night over the weekend but I missed the thunder and lightning. The greenery is still abundant.
There is a lot happening at the Aquinnah Public Library. On August 17 at 10:30 a.m. there will be a special story time with Kate Feiffer. Kate has written eleven children’s books and will read Henry the Dog with No Tail and other favorites.
The library also hosts a slow yoga class on Wednesday afternoons from 4 to 5, running through the rest of August.
Kids and adults can get henna on Tuesday August 20 from 4-5. To book a spot people can sign up in the library or call 508-645-2314.
On August 22 Ron Slate presents an exploration of the current poetry scene in the U.S., how it relates to his zine ‘On the Seawall’ and read a selection of his poems. Also, did you know you can borrow MV Museum passes from the library?
Author and historian Skip Finley has published a new book, Historic Tales of Oak Bluffs, a culmination of his research and writing the Oak Bluffs column for the Vineyard Gazette for five years. Skip has been on a book tour for the past few weeks. His next presentation will be at the Cousen Rose Gallery, 71 Circuit Avenue in Oak Bluffs, tomorrow. Not to be missed.
Educator and musician Livingston Taylor (formerly of Taylorville, next door to Manningville) will perform at the Old Whaling Church on August 23 at 8 p.m. He will present his new album The Best of LIVe.
Rich and Karen Derby have arrived this week to attend tribal events while camping out in their mobile Wetu.
Chris and Kim Lyons and their daughter Kay returned to their home in Saratoga Springs this past week, following their annual stay at the Saltonstall home on Old South Road.
Craig Rakela and Charlotte Cook have had a visit from family at their East Pasture home over the past week.
Dr. Rusty Radliff, his wife Heide, and their children and grandchildren have been staying at the Brett-Smith house on Jeffers Way as they have for the past few decades.
A very special happy birthday wish to President William J. Clinton as he celebrates his special day on August 19.
