Cheryl Andrews-Maltais, chairman of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah), was selected to be a panelist at the Frank LaMere Native American Presidential Forum 2019 in Sioux City, Iowa, on August 19 and 20.

Ms. Andrews-Maltais shared the stage with Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a Democratic presidential candidate, in a forum that was described as a first of its kind for Indian Country.

The forum was organized by Four Directions Inc., a group dedicated to advancing equality at the ballot box in Indian Country.

“I was just thrilled to be part of this historic event. With the exception of the Obama administration . . . Indian Country has been largely overlooked when it comes to presidential campaigns,” Ms. Andrews-Maltais said in a statement.
