The annual Vineyard Artisans Labor Day Weekend Festival will take place next weekend on the Agricultural Society grounds in West Tisbury. This year, due to a scheduling mixup, the artisans will display their pottery, paintings and textiles under a vast tent rather than in the agricultural hall itself.

“There’s nothing that could be done about it. We’re in a tent,” said artisans organizer Andrea Rogers of the 24th annual event. The Vineyard Artisans festivals take place every summer on the Island and feature work from only year-round Island craftspeople. Weekly festivals are held at the Grange hall in West Tisbury, but the Labor Day festival is one of the largest of the year, Ms. Rogers said.

Ms. Rogers said 20 new artisans are joining the Labor Day festival this year, including woodworker Eric Lakso, metalsmith Ivry Russillo and soapmaker Larisa Stinga.

“We’ll absolutely fill the 140-foot-by-40-foot tent and there will probably be another 15 tents outside that tent,” Ms. Rogers said. There will also be a food truck and outdoor restrooms.

The festival will run Friday, August 30 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, August 31 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Police will be on hand to direct parking.
