The final 10 short films have been culled from all over the world and now you get to decide which is the best. Well, you and about 100,000 other short film buffs.

That’s the premise of The Manhattan Short Film Festival, established in 1998. Film lovers watch all 10 of the shorts and then vote for their favorite, along with the Best Actor awards.

Here on the Island, the Martha’s Vineyard Film Society hosts the event, beginning Thursday, Sept 26 and running through Sunday, Sept. 29. Each day all the short films will be screened — at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday — so there is ample opportunity to be a part of the global phenomenon.

The Film Center is located at 79 Beach Road in Vineyard Haven. For tickets and more information, visit mvfilmsociety.com.
