West Tisbury EMS responded to a morning accident on the Edgartown-West Tisbury Road after two pickup trucks collided.

West Tisbury police chief Matt Mincone said the collision took place at 7:52 a.m. Wednesday near Vineyard Meadow Farms Road.

“One car was turning left onto Vineyard Meadow Farms Road and the operator of the second car had his eyes off the road and hit him,” the police chief said.

The 22-year-old operator of the first vehicle, a 2016 Chevy Silverado, was transported to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital with minor injuries, the chief said. The 35-year-old driver of the second vehicle, a 2005 Ford LGT pickup, was issued a citation for following too closely to another vehicle, he said.

Two police officers, one ambulance and West Tisbury fire and rescue all responded. Neither of the vehicles had to be towed.

The scene was cleared by 8:27 a.m., Chief Mincone said.
