At long last, sunshine arrived in Aquinnah on Monday with temperatures in the 50s. A deer decided to run into me on Monday morning, truly scary on the driver’s side.

The Aquinnah Artisans Fair will be held on Dec. 7 and 8 at the Aquinnah town hall from noon to 4 p.m. Food will be available. More than 20 vendors will be present with their holiday wares for your shopping pleasure.

The Minnesingers will perform at the Howes House on Dec. 3 at 10 a.m. prior to their winter concert productions. Also at Howes House, the staff will have an information clinic on Dec. 3 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Chilmark Library. Learn about the many programs and services provided by the Up-Island Council on Aging.

Healthy Aging MV is growing. They have adopted a new governance structure, and now looking for a new, full-time director. Candidates should send letter of interest, resume and writing sample to Amy Houghton at ahoughton@mvcommunityservices.org.

Offerings of Music and Light will be held at Chilmark Community Church on Dec. 1, 8 and 15 at 5 p.m.

The First Congregational Church of West Tisbury will present Advent Evensong on successive Wednesdays — Dec 4, 11 and 18 — at 5:30 p.m. Childcare is available and if you need a ride, call the church two days in advance.

Get well wishes to Kenneth F. Belain, Jr. who is presently recuperating from recent surgery and hopes to be back at Mid-Island Repair soon.

Get well wishes to Nicholas Bologna who underwent surgery this past week and is presently recuperating at home while having thoughts of his summer of surfing at Squibnocket.

Condolences to the family and friends of Charles Waters who passed away in Florida. His services will be held at a later date. Charlie was an up-Island shuttle bus driver for Island Transport for many years. He served his nation as a veteran of three wars and was especially proud of his great grandson MK2 Jacob Waters-Maciel who is presently serving at USCG Station Menemsha.

Congratulations to SN Daniel Gonzalez-Respeto, R.N. at USCG Station Menemsha who attended Health Services School in Petaluma, Calif. for the past six months, graduating at the top of his class. Daniel, his wife Marguerita, and their children Abdiel and Allayni have moved on to his next assignment in Miami, Fla.

SN Colby Storm graduated from Health Services School in Petaluma, CA as well. Colby will now be stationed at Air Station Cape Cod.

MK1 Dallas Ricker recently graduated from A School in Yorktown, Va. Dallas was surprised as his wife Chelsi and their young sons Parker and Eli travelled to Yorktown to attend his graduation. Immediately following the ceremony, they headed north. His new assignment is in Kittery, Me., an hour from their family homes.

Congratulations to MK3 Brody Schilling and BM3 Ryan Martyn who recently received their Good Conduct Medals for three years of honorable service.
