Lambert’s Cove Road on the Vineyard Haven end has been closed until further notice, Tisbury town officials announced late Friday.

Closed early in the week for a single day after a section washed out in heavy rains, the winding road that runs between Vineyard Haven and West Tisbury was closed again at 4 p.m. Friday, this time indefinitely.

Heavy rain is in the forecast for Saturday.

“The road will remain closed until further notice. With the heavy rain forecasted, this action is necessary,” Tisbury town administrator Jay Grande said in an announcement.

Additional road work will continue, Mr. Grande also said, with updates to be provided by the town DPW.
