Oh what a pleasure to enjoy 60-degree spring like weather over the weekend. Doors and windows were opened to enjoy the warmth of the sun, coats and jackets were shed, convertible tops were lowered and beachcombing was the sport of the day.

Put on your dancing shoes for the annual Chilmark School PTO Fundraiser to be held on Saturday, Feb. 1 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Chilmark Community Center, with music by Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish. There will also be a live and a silent auction to benefit the Chilmark School Outing Program.

All the best to Paul Henry Jeffers-Mayhew as he heads to Boston for work and enjoyment. He has spent the past seven months working in the human services department at the tribe following his graduation from U-Mass Boston in May.

Silas is the grandson of Will and Susan deBettencourt of Oak Bluffs and Richard and Suzanne Hammond of West Tisbury, and great grandson of Carol Merry deBettencourt. Welcome to Myles Xaysana Vanderhoop, son of Jacob Vanderhoop and Tippy Nirandone, born at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital on Dec. 27. He is the grandson of Matthew “Cully” Vanderhoop of Aquinnah and Rachel Millman of West Tisbury and great grandson of Anne Vanderhoop Madison. Congratulations.
At USCG Station Menemsha, a fond farewell to BM3 Alexander Dekoschak who has officially been transferred to Woods Hole.
Sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Nelson Bryant. He was a multi-generational family friend as our families served together as selectmen in their respective towns, and his late brother Danny fished with our family aboard the Bozo.
