What a difference a day makes, as well as what a difference a week makes. The temperature was 60 two weeks ago on Saturday; this past Saturday it was 4 degrees with the wind chill factor but went up to 44 degrees on Sunday. Ah, the New England weather is one that I would never trade.

By now you must have received your town census paperwork in the mail along with the necessary form to register your canine. Please complete the paperwork and return it to the town clerk. If you did not receive the paperwork, please stop in and speak with Aquinnah Town Clerk Gabriella Camilleri to be sure that you are a registered voter in Aquinnah and that you are on the street listing.

The presidential primary election is March 3. Early voting will be the week before beginning on Monday, Feb. 24, through Friday, Feb. 28. Early voting hours will coincide with the town clerk’s office hours which will be expanded to Monday through Friday, noon to 4 p.m. If anyone is interested in obtaining an absentee ballot, please email or call the town clerk at townclerk@aquinnah-ma.gov, 508-645-2304. If you have any dishes, glassware, platters, or silverware that you would like to donate to the town, there is a need for such at the town hall rather than wasting money on paper goods and plastics for events as has been the case for a couple of decades now. This renewed use stems from the Community Resilience Workshops on Climate change.

BBQ at the Outermost Inn on January 24 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Reservations are a must by calling 508-645-3511. This month the BBQ will be Texas style.

Have you read the latest issue of Boston Magazine? Thomas Stackpole, son of Matthew and Martha, has written an article regarding clubs and how one should really join to meet people. Also noted in the issue is Dr. Michael Bigby, one of the best doctors in his specialty of dermatology. Even though I worked with Dr. Bigby thirty years ago, it still does not get me in to see him any quicker!

Alexandra Taylor and her daughters Olive and Violet have returned from Disney World where Alexandra participated in a marathon which was “good” but too hot. She feels as though you learn something new about yourself as a runner every race.

Sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Florencio “Sonny” Mendes who passed away Jan. 17 at Massachusetts General Hospital. Having known Sonny for more than half a century, he was a kind soul and went out of his way to help those he could. He is survived by his children Jacqueline Hansen, Jody Mendez, and Jermaine Mendez, children with his former spouse Gloria Francis Mendez Fontes. Services will be held on Jan. 24.
