A West Tisbury man is facing drunk driving charges after a two-car accident on Pilgrim Road in Edgartown early Sunday.

Jhollimar De Freitas, 21, was the driver of a white 2015 Kia Optima that struck a black 2011 Toyota Camry on 10th street, police said. Both vehicles were leaving the same party when the accident occurred, police also said. The driver of the Toyota was a junior operator who is also facing charges for license violations.

Both drivers were transported to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, and Mr. De Freitas was later flown to a Boston hospital, according to police.

No information was immediately available about his condition. Police said he will be arraigned when he returns to the Island. In addition to operating under the influence of alcohol, Mr. De Freitas is being charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation, marked lanes violation, speeding and failure to yield, according to the police report.
