The Permanent Endowment for Martha’s Vineyard has announced a $100,000 gift to its Emergency Response Fund, which supports Island non-profits buffeted by the Covid-19 crisis.

The grant comes from the Barr Foundation, one of the largest private foundations in New England, which is contributing $2.5 million in emergency relief grants for the pandemic crisis. The Permanent Endowment was one of six regional community foundations, included the Community Foundation for Nantucket, to receive a $100,000 Barr Foundation grant, according to the announcement.

The Permanent Endowment made its first round of emergency grants to Vineyard nonprofits last week, dividing nearly $54,000 among seven organizations.
