Thanks to all Chappy Ferry users who were able and willing to co-operate with the two-week temporary change to the ferry schedule as we try and adjust to life in the new Covid-19 world. My apologies to anyone who was inconvenienced by the attempt to operate hourly. The ferry will resume the winter schedule on Saturday, April 25. This means that, weather permitting, the ferry will make a trip at 6:00 a.m. sharp for those wishing to go grocery shopping for the special senior dedicated period at Stop & Shop, then will operate continuously from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., then again from 11:00 p.m. to 11:15 p.m.

The ferry ramp replacement project will not occur on Saturday, April 25 but rather on the following Saturday, May 2. The existing ferry ramp on the Edgartown side will be removed and replaced with a brand new ramp.

Starting at 8:30 a.m. that day, a gigantic Baxter crane will lift the old ramp out of the way and the process of fitting the new ramp will begin. During the ramp replacement work, there will be no way to load vehicles onto the ferry. The work should be completed by 6:00 p.m. that same day. We will continue to carry passengers throughout the day. There will be plenty of room in the town parking lots if you wish to leave a vehicle in town the night before and during the project day. As usual, the police department is aware of this project and will not ticket vehicles parked in legal parking spaces.

My fingers are crossed that the weather will be favorable. If not, the storm date is the following Saturday.
